Hey, Tod! I have a question about math. I have my final tomorrow and I don't know how to add and subtract decimals. Can you help me please before tomorrow?
No problem, Franklin. I can help you out.
First, to add decimals, you have to put the larger number over the smaller number.
Ok. I am starting to understand.
That's great, Franklin.
Second, you have to line up the decimals, with the decimal points in the same numerical column.
Wow! I didn't know that it was this easy!
Then, you just add the two numbers up to get your answer. For example, 2.57+8.92. 8.92 2.57 --------- 11.48
Now it doesn't seem so hard!
To subtract, you have do almost all of the same steps as adding decimals except, you subtract instead. You line up the decimals in the same column and subtract. For example, 5.50-3.20. 5.50 3.20 -------- 2.30
Thanks for helping me out with adding and subtracting decimals. Now I am sure to ace my math final.
