This is Holden, Holden Holden is a sixteen-year-old junior who has just been expelled for academic failure. Holden also always seems to be in a bad mood.
In the beginning of the book as Holden is being kicked out of the school he wants to say goodbye to his favorite teacher "Mr. Spencer.
"Let me take your coat dear"(8), this shows that they are comfortable with each other
Jane is the symbol of one of the only people that Holden can reach out to and talk too. That is slowly going away due to her dating Stradlater.
In checkers, she would keep her kings in the back row, not because of strategy or vanity, but because she thought it was cute. She thought they looked good lined up back there and that was more important to her than winning a checker game.
Holden goes to a bar, and he tries to act older, fit in, and even though he hates people he is still trying. He meets 3 girls, but only likes one of them. they end up leaving and Holden a=has to pay fro everyting
Holden is ready to meet a prostitute, as she walks into the room wearing a lovely green dress. Holden wants to talk to her and create conversation, but the girls just wants to get it over with, all of this is making holden nervous
This scene is very sad because you see that the ducks symbolize himself because Holden has no where to go and he is so lonely
