I'm Drew Brees, and I'm going to tell you my journey to how I became a SuperBowl Champion with the New Orleans Saints in 2009.
My route to the MVP of the Superbowl was far from easy. It all began in my childhood, where I first experienced exclusion.
Since birth, I had a birthmark on my right cheek. This distinguished me from the other kids at school, which is why I was teased.
Soon after, my parents got a divorce. It hurt both myself and my brother tremendously. At the same time, he and I got closer than we ever were. This showed me, that no matter how bad a situation is; there can always be a positive that comes out of it.
Throughout my journey through highschool to college at Purdue, all the way to the NFL, I had to overcome multiple obstacles. I had injuries in practically every part of my body, including a torn ACL, torn shoulder, a concussion, and more. On top of this, I had to deal with the doubters and critics believing that I'd never be a starting quarterback for a championship team.
I realized that everything happens for a reason. Every injury I had, resulted in myself coming back better and stronger than ever. I realized that I'd never be the biggest or strongest guy, but I had people around me; namely my wife, who believe and include me like I was. I took the obstacles that God put in front of me as opportunities and tests to improve.
