I am LeBron James book review: Rylee Imhoff 6D
Reading Counts! Book Review
Young superstar, NBA champion, who else could it be other than LeBron James. I am LeBron James is a twelve chapter book that displays what happened in LeBron James' life. It all started in the big city of Akron Ohio. The athletcism started from a young age.
LeBron received a child's basketball hoop for Christmas one year. Expecting him to miss it, his family was stunned when he ran up and dunked the ball! Even though he has immense fame now, it wasn't always like this. He would live on couches at friends houses, because they couldn't afford to pay for a home, or even an apartment at the time. In highschool Lebron played football. He had never tried basketball, and never really thought about it. A coach at school knew about his problem at home, and decided to do something about it. He invited LeBron to come and live with his family until his mother got back on her feet, and could afford to keep a home including Lebron.
My favorite part of this book was that LeBron had such a hard life, and came right out to win the game of life, and with the Cav's. I'm positive that the one thing the author wants you to get from this boook, is that you should always stay strong, because even in the darkest of times, you can become an NBA player. "I am LeBron James" is one of the best "I am" books of the series because it really made me want to keep reading more than other books. I have read a lot of these books. It created pictures in my mind of how terrible his life was, just to come out as King James (WORD CHOICE). Also, I reccomend this book to anyone who is very interested in learning about how people come out of their shadows of Akron, Ohio.
