  • Exposition
  • Main Conflict
  • Rising Action
  • A man goes on a journey alone through the Yukon during the winter in negative seventy degree temperatures.
  • Climax
  • The man makes a foolish decision to travel along a frozen river and ends up falling through the ice. His feet are now drenched and he has to quickly build a fire to save them.
  • Falling action
  • The man builds the fire but it goes out quickly due to snow falling from the tree above it. He then tries to build another fire while he is losing feeling in his feet.
  • Resolution
  • The man fails to build another fire and decides in order to survive he must kill the dog and use it to keep himself warm. As the man lunges at the dog it runs away because it senses danger.
  • The man runs out of options and starts sprinting towards Henderson Creek where the boys already were. He struggles to run because of lack of strength in his legs and falls down.
  • The man decides that death may be his only option. He lays down and eventually dies.
