Storyboard Text

  • Well Jaxon let me explain it to you.
  • Mr. Mason what is photosynthesis?
  • The electrons are then passed from molecule to molecule which is releasing ATP.
  • The electrons then combine  with NADP+ to form NADPH.
  • Since plants can't eat to get their energy they have to make it themselves.
  • So, first sunlight hits the chlorophyll that is in the chloroplast and it excites the electrons, which then leave chlorophyll.
  • The ATP and NADPH are then used in carbon fixation reactions.
  • ATP is  used for the energy while NADPH and carbon are used to make glucose.
  • Glucose is what plants use as their food. After photosynthesis cellular respiration happens.
  •  Glycolysis is the first step in cellular respiration. This occurs in the cytoplasm. Glucose is broken in half. The energy released is used to make ATP.
  • 3-carbon sugars produced then enter the mitochondria along with oxygen. They convert to citric acid which is then broken down in the Krebs cycle.
  • NADH releases hydrogen ions. The energy from those electrons is converted to ATP and ADP. The free electrons and H+ ions bond with oxygen which forms water. Which is then released as a waste product.
