Storyboard Text

  • Ginger Williams and her family arrive at the South Fork American River in Coloma, where they'll be mining.
  • They begin mining, but come to the realization that the easier to harvest gold on the surface has already been taken, so they must resort to more high-tech methods of mining.
  • We won't be able to find anything with a mining pan, we'll have to use other equipment. Go tell your mother that we'll need to go to town and buy some large shovels and pickaxes.
  • Yes father, right away!
  • The Williams family continues to labor tirelessly for weeks with no reward. Meanwhile, they meet other families and grow closer with them through mutual experiences and motivations.
  • Still nothing!
  • A small quantity of gold is finally found.
  • Everyone! I found a piece of gold!
  • After including expenses of their journey, the Williams family realizes that they now have a much lower income compared to when they first started out, which defeats the purpose of their trip.
  • Hoping to find more gold to help their income, the Williams search a while longer. But they are once again unsuccessful, so they begin their journey home.
  • Why can't I find any more?!
