- Washington was forced to retreat from the larger, stronger, and better equipped British. This was the biggest battle of the American Revolution and gave the British ahold of New York.
- Battle of Brandywine
- On Christmas day, 1776, Washington crossed the frozen Delaware river and ambushed the hessian troops in Trenton, New Jersey. While not important strategically, this battle was important for troops morale.
- Battle of Saratoga
- After crossing Delaware, Washington led his troops around the British, outflanking them near Princeton. The British were forced to surrender, giving Washington a major victory.

- Washington attempts to prevent the patriot capital at Princeton from being captured, but this bloody conflict ended the patriots winning streak.
- A major victory for George Washington and the patriot troops. This battle was the turning point in the war. This Patriot win persuaded foreign countries to join the war on their side.
