  • The battle was bad for the Americans because they were out numbered and poorly trained. The British had unknowingly went and attacked the Americans leading to our defeat.
  • Brandywine
  • There is a famous picture of Washington cross the Delaware river. It was successful because they attacked on Christmas. The battle was against a Hessian (German) garrison.
  • Saratoga
  • It was a win for the Americans because they flanked the British. Washington had progressed the battle which helped showed his authority.
  • Summary
  • The British took an opportunity to make a sneak attack on the Americans which worked and they ended up taking Philadelphia the Patriot capital.
  • Washington was not there but it was still a win for the Americans. this battle was known as the turning point because we ended up getting help from the French.
  • Over all the Americans did a very good job when you take into account that we were extremely out numbered. George Washington was there for all the battles except for one and that's because he was busy in Brandywine.
