- Ships came to New York with British soldiers. The British outnumbered the patriots. 20% of the patriot army was killed. Also known as the Battle of Brooklyn.
- Brandywine
- Washinton led his troops across the Delaware River on Christmas day in 1776. The Patriots won this war because they ambushed the germans on Christmas.
- Saratoga
- A win for the Americans. Washington maneuver his troops until the British waved the white flag. Washington took the role of general.
- Summary
- Americans lost. The British captured Philadelphia, which is where the government was. One of the longest battles in the war. Temporarily ended the American winning streak.
- Huge success for the Americans. Another name for this battle is the turning point because we had the help of the French after this. There were two parts to the battle of saratoga.
- In the first half of the war, Americans lost the first battle of long island. After, the Americans had a winning streak but lost that streak in the battle of Brandywine. So far the Americans are winning, and are about to get help from the French.
