Federalists vs. Anti-Federalists Storyboard-Nikhil Chaku 4th

Storyboard Text

  • As a federalist, I believe that the constitution should govern us, and not the Articles of Confederation.
  • NO! As an anti-federalist, I just want to adjust the Articles of Confederation.
  • Mr anti-federalist, the constitution gives us a strong central government. A strong central government gives us more strength and unity as a country.
  • A strong central government won't help us at all! I want the power to lie with the states. A strong central government will only overlook the states, and what if it becomes too powerful?
  • In addition, what if the president becomes like the king? He would have so much power and might turn out to be a tyrant.
  • That's why we'll have 3 branches, each with a system of checks and balances so that no one is too powerful.
  • Why does this constitution barely list any rights I have? I want a bill of rights to be written now! I am entitled to these rights and want them in writing! We need it now!
  • A bill of rights is unnecessary. Why list things that the government has no power to take away anyways?
  • Well, Patrick Henry and George Mason, my anti-federalist buddies, disagree.
  • Fine, I'll let you write a bill of rights and add it to the constitution once it is ratified.
  • Now that the constitution is ratified, I'm here to add the bill of rights with 10 amendments.
  • Great, I'll add it right away...
