  • 1.)The morning of June 27th was clear and sunny, with thefresh warmth of a full-summer day; the flowers were blossoming profusely and the grasswas richly green.                     2.)BobbyMartin had already stuffed his pockets full of stones, and the other boys soonfollowed his example, selecting the smoothest and roundest stones

  • 1)personification - he dropped all the papers but those onto the ground, where the breeze caught them and lifted them off. (acts as if the wind is a person catching the paper)
  • TONE PART 2
  •  "Pack of crazy fools," he said. "Listening to the young folks, nothing's good enough for them. Next thing you know, they'll be wanting to go back to living in caves, nobody work any more, live that way for a while.
  • 2.) Irony – the lottery as a whole is ironic because usually when we think of the lottery it’s a good thing, like a prize, but in the story, it brings death and sorrow.
  • 1.) fear - The villagers kept their distance, leaving a space between themselves and the stool
  • 2) judgmental: authoritative and often having critical opinions - Old Man Warner snorted. "Pack of crazy fools," he said. "Listening to the young folks, nothing's good enough for them. Next thing you know, they'll be wanting to go back to living in caves, nobody work any more, live that way for a while.
