  • 1) The Box- Represents the uncontrollable fear and fate to the unfortunate. 2) Stones- They throw stones literally and metaphorically

  • 1)The time of the lottery creates a scene of people that are pale and in a time of fear. Then the name is picked and Tessie drops to the ground and cries. 2) The box would appear to be a worn and not a pleasant looking box

  • 1.) Irony- The lottery today is associated with good fortune while in the story it is death and bad fortune. 2.) Irony- Also, the lottery is ussualy an optional form of gambling ones money but in the story its a mandatory gamble of ones life

  • 1.)Fear- People in the story always have the fear of the lottery turning  against them and seeing the black dot on their slip. 2.)Callous- During the ritual people are enthusiastic when killing Tessie and have a lack of any emotion or regret.
