Many of my brethren are forced to work long, hard, hot hours in these fields. The whites have no regard for us as people. They work us to death and barely give us the necessities to survive. That's one big reason our death rate is so high.
After a long days work, we can't even relax. Our homes are rough shacks. We are given no rights so we can't leave the plantation. Some of us who are lucky handmake things to sell and buy our freedom.
Some of us converted to Christianity ourselves and some of us were forced to practice our master's religion. It eventually became a source of hope for us.
We were also sold off at auctions by our masters. Our masters would sell our children off to other plantation owners never to be seen again.
Sometimes we would try and revolt against our masters in slave revolts. A few times we tried to take over ships. We also tried killing our master and running away but these attempts would almost always fail
