  • A symbol in The Lottery is the black box because it shows the village is very traditional and doesn't want to get a new box.
  • An example of imagery is when Mrs. Hutchinson was chosen and everybody picks up a rock to throw at her.
  • A metaphor is if you win the lottery, you get killed by people throwing rocks at you.
