  • The Symbol I used was the sheet of paper, because the paper represents the risk that is the Loterry. The lottery is a risk to everyone in the town, even children and elderly. The risk was death and when the towns people pulled the slip of paper they had the risk of death. "I hope it's not nancy." Found on page 33, line 288. Pople are scared to lose to the sheet of paper.

  • The imagery I used was found on line 323, page 34, "Mrs. Delacroix selected a stone so large she had to pick upit up with both hands." I used this because it shows how she picked up the rock, how big the rock was. It also showed how selfish and angry Mrs. Delecroix was with Tessie, even though everyone else picked up small pebbled rocks.
  •
  • The figure of speech that I found was Alliteration. On line 46 Mr. Graves said “little late today folks.” The Alliteration was the same sounding words, which are little and late. There were many different types of figurative speech, but this was the one I had the hardest time finding.

  • I used this scene because it represents my chosen theme that fear causes people to act in the moment, no matter how crazy. I used the scene on page 34 when the kids started throwing rocks at Tessie, they were scared that they or their family would be the ones who won the lottery, so they threwrocks to make sure they weren’t victims to the lottery.
