A group of hackers stole information from the customers and the drivers.
They stole information like customer names, addresses, emails and mobile numbers of 57 million Uber users worldwide including drivers aswell.
Uber payed $100,000 in ransom to the two hackers who had access to the data to keep the data a secret.
This secret payment eventually cost Uber security executives their jobs for handling the incident.
ber has hired Matt Olsen, who previously served as general counsel at the National Security Agency. Uber says Olsen will help the company restructure its security teams.
Uber's new CEO, Dara Khosrowshahi, says the attack and the coverup should not have happened, and that Uber is "changing the way we do business." Khosrowshahi says he is aiming to change the way Uber operates
