How about you sleep under that apple tree over there?
Those are King Arthur's knights!
You'll never escape!
Halt! I challenge ye to a battle!
One day, Sir Launcelot went on horseback with Sir Lyonel, his nephew, in search of adventure. At noon, Sir Launcelot felt sleepy, so "Sir Lyonel suggested that they rest beneath the shade of an apple tree" (12-13).
Suddenly, "three knights came galloping past, and Sir Lyonel noticed that they were being pursued by a fourth knight, who was one of the most powerful he had yet seen" (17-19)! Sir Lyonel knew he had to do something!
"Without waking Sir Launcelot, Sir Lyonel mounted his horse and rode after the knight" (23-24). When he got close, he shouted his challenge and prepared to fight. How will this fight end? Find out in the next issue of Sir Launcelot du Lake!
