Storyboard Text

  • "Quiet down or I will throw you overboard!"
  • "We haven't been fed in days, my arms and legs are raw from being shackled down here for weeks!"
  • "Abraham is a healthy, strong field slave going for 600 dollars!"
  • Abraham was subjected to working on a large plantation in the deep south where he had to work as many hours a day as his master wanted. Many slaves to pass the time sang songs and spoke in the pidgin language.
  • After a long day of work Abraham witnessed a house slave being beaten. House servants are more often punished because they live in such close coders with their slave owners. Many field slaves and house slaves do not have much contact with each other.
  • Abraham, like many other slaves, lived in slave quarters. They were cramped together near their mastershome. Many slaves at night sang songs and prayed for freedom.
