  • Whoa! I see some weird honeycomb- like structure in this piece of cork.

  • The paper is showing a print out of what she saw in the microscope.
  • I don't think anyone else has ever seen this.
  • Look at all those small things!  I wonder what they are?

  • Each small compartment looked like they had a wall surrounding it.  The other parts looked dead. 
  • After seeing those small compartments, I think I will call them a cell because of every individual compartment.

  • I wonder what that is in the middle of the cell in this flower?

  • Brown named the nucleus in a paper he read to the Linnean Society in 1831 and published in 1833
  • I will name it the nucleus!

  • Jakob Schleiden Was the person to say that all plants are made of cells, and that they are the building blocks in all plants.  
  • Schleiden had the same ideas as Schwann, who said that all animals are made up of cells as well.
