  • CELL THEORY
  • Hello, class. Ms. Deisher here. Today, we will be introducing the scientists responsible for the creation of Cell Theory!
  • Our story takes us to Robert Hooke, an English scientist that coined the term "cell".
  • They look like monks' rooms or like animals that have parties!
  • The next scientist to make a difference in the world of cells was Robert Brown. Brown was an English botanist.
  • NUCLEUS
  • CELL
  • I discovered that all cells have a nucleus! They are the smallest unit that controls structure and function!
  • German botanist Matthias Schleiden investigated Hooke's research and discovered all plants are made of cells.
  • Wow, I see a bunch of cells in this lettuce leaf! I'm hungry...
  • When Schleiden came out with his work on plants, German Theodor Schwann conducted the same research on animals. He found that all animals are also made of cells.
  • My research completed the section of Cell Theory tat states all organisms are made of one or more cells!
  • Finally, Polish Rudolf Virchow finished Cell Theory by stating all cells come from preexisting cells.
  • Thank you, thank you very much! I'd like to thank the Academy, Matthias Shleiden...
