We need war!
The first phase of the war was fought mainly by the Navy. Commodore Perry defeated the British fleet from a row boat during the Battles in the Great Lakes. The British ground forces were defeated at the Battle of Thames.
The British won the war with France in 1814, so they put all their energy into fighting the U.S. They blockeded the U.S. coast and burned down the White House. The British won phase two of the war.
The British attacked New Orleans to cut off the Mississippi River during phase three of the war. U.S. troops led by Andrew Jackson defeated the British in the final battle.
The Treaty of Ghent ended the war in 1815. The victory increased American patriotism and decresed the Native American resistance in the Northwest Territory. U.S. manufacturing grew, which began the Industrial Revolution.
