  • We need Congress to approve a war with Britain!! There is impressment occuring in US ships!!
  • Native American Resistance
  • You will fight the Americans in the Northwest Territory.
  • Okay!! We got it!!
  • Phase 1: Great Lakes/Canada/NW
  • I'm going to WIN THIS BATTLE!!
  • No, everyone knows the winner will be me!!
  • In 1812, James Madison asked Congress to approve war with Britain because of impressment and attacks on US ships.
  • Phase 2: East Coast
  • I think we did a good job of blockading the area!!
  • Tecumseh organized the N.A.s in the Northwest Territory and they would fight the Americans there.
  • Phase 3: New Orleans
  • Now that we blockaded the area, they can't get here!!
  • Oliver Hazard Perry took command of the US Navy. Commodore Perry and the British battled for two hours before Perry's ship was sunk.
  • Effects of the War
  • The British blockaded the East Coast and went to Washington DC and burned the White House down.
  • The British attacked New Orleans to cut off American use of the Mississippi River.
  • Increased patriotism, weakened N.A. resistance to westward settlement, and US manufacturing grew.
