  • After Jefferson's presidency a new president came into the office. James Madison won the election against Thomas Jefferson. At that time France and England were attacking American ships. Then Americans ask to have respect from the foreign country's and then we can trade with them again. France agrees to respect neutrality first.
  • Phase 2: East Coast
  • The White House is on FIRE!!!! RUN
  • The causes of the war of 1812 was simply because of two things. One, Britain was IMPRESSING the American sailors on the route to France (impressment). Two, Britain was also giving Native Americans guns to fight off their land so it would make it harder for Americans to move west.
  • Phase 3: New Orleans
  • What are you doing down here?
  • Oliver Hazard Perry took command of the U.S. Navy in lake Eerie. Commander Perry battled for two hours and then his boat sunk. He climbed into a raft and then commanded from a raft. The British fled to Canada and we defeated the British at Battle of Thames. Britain is no longer a threat in the northwest territory.
  • Effects Of The War
  • Thank you heros!!
  • Britain finally defeats Napoleon and puts all it's force on defeating the U.S! The British blocked the coast and burned down the White House. Around the same time Francis Scott Key watched the bombardment of Fort McHenry in Baltimore. Americans stop the invasion. While watching this happen he writes the "Star Spangled Banner".
  • Star Spangled Banner
  • This inspires me to write a song!
  • To cut off American use of the Mississippi, the British attacked New Orleans. James Madison (the president) sent Andrew Jackson to command the American forces in 1815. American casualties: 71, British casualties: 2,000

  • After the war many things happened. One, American patriotism was increased. Two, Native American resistance was weekended allowing us to move westward. Three, U.S. manufacturing grew. The beginning of Industrial Revolution. War Hero's: Andrew Jackson, William Henry Harrison, Commodore Perry.
