Storyboard Text

  • Exposition
  • "You think you're too good for us just because you finished high school and have a job uptown!"
  • Inciting Incident
  • At the corner of the entrance leaning jauntily against the bricks, leered a brown faced tough whose half closed eyes singled me out. Even his wet, combed hair, scrubbed face, and neatly patched clothes did not disguise his true nature.
  • He stuck out a foot to trip me as I walked past. Like with my boy cousins in the country, I stepped on it good and hard without giving him even so much as a glance.
  • Rising Action
  • "You stepped on my foot, big eyes. And your big eyes are going to get it for that."
  • Uncle Luis is mad at Papa because he wants to move to the city. Papa claims that it is because it will be closer to work but he actually wants Junior to start school in an English speaking school.
  • Climax
  • Junior is feeling pretty pleased with himself because he gets to go to school. He was walking with his mother who wanted to hold his hand but he wouldn't let her. As he's walking into the school, this kid tries to trip him but he stomps on his foot.
  • Falling Action
  • Chango, the bully, and his friends are surrounding Junior because Junior stepped on his foot earlier. Chango tries to beat Junior up, but Junior flips him a couple of times. Chango then asks Junior if he wants join his gang and he said yes.
  • Resolution
  • "A blonde indian?"
  • "He... He's an indian from Oklahoma."
  • Junior, Chango and their friends love watching western films at the movie theater. They always root against John Wayne and want the bad guys to win. This is how they develop their hatred for "Okie Gringo".
  • Junior, Chango and the rest of the Los Indios ganged up on "Okie Gringo". They ask him if he can speak spanish, in spanish and when he doesn't reply they beat him up. When Junior gets home he finds out that the kid is his neighbor and his mom wants him to become friends with him.
  • "Los Hablos Espanol?"
  • Junior was taking Denver, "Okie Gringo", to the movies and he was really worried about what Chango and the others would say. Once he got there the boys were all ready to pounce on Denver so Junior told them he was an indian from Oklahoma. Chango, at first, didn't believe him and asks Denver to "talk indian". He comes up with something random and fools Chango. They all become friends and watch the movie together.
  • "Talk indian."
  • "Uh... fgrifhtfjdk?
