Storyboard Text

  • In ancient Rome, slaves, prisoners of war, or free men were recruited to be gladiators
  • The gladiators are then taken to a special gladiator training camp. They usually had better living qualities than the lower class. They were allowed to bathe, but they still had close quarters
  • The gladiator schools taught the gladiators how to fight. The schools were really expensive for the government, so they trained the gladiators to be so tough that they would survive many battles.
  • Before a gladiator battle, the gladiators would go to a big dinner, where they were commanded to have a good time. They then went to battle.
  • Then, the battle began. The people would use hand signs in the audience to signify if the gladiator should die, or if they should live.
  • Sadly, after almost every battle, many gladiators died, and there was only one left standing.
