British marched to Concord to capture John Hanock and Samuel Adams. They also came to seize a stock hold of weapons. Luckily, the colonists were warned by Paul Revere and William Dawes. 2000 minutemen fought in this battle. It's also known as the shot heard around the world.
Battle of Saratoga
The battle was actually fought at Breeds Hill just outside of Boston. Their leader, Colonel Prescott, ordered "don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes". The battle was a moral boost for the Americans because the war resulted in 40% causalities for the British.
General Washington was informed the the Hessians were not going to expect them the day after Christmas. So, the colonists traveled miles in the extreme cold across the Delaware river. It was very important they win this battle because the war would probably end and they'd lose. Fortunately, the colonists won the battle which was their first major victory.
Battle of Yorktown
Benedict Arnold played an important role in this turning point battle. The British planned for a risky three pronged strategy that strained their supplies. This was a huge win for the Americans that proved to the French they were capable if winning. The French decide to help the Americans.
Valley Forge was an American camp where soldiers were trained. With the help of Friedrich Wilhelm Baron von Steuben and George Washington, the soldiers were transformed into a powerful army. This event was significant because without the training they probably would have lost the war.
The Americans were led by George Washington and the French were led by Rochambeau and Lafayette. The French were very helpful because they brought men, weapons, and warships. This was the final battle of the American Revolution. The British army general, Charles Cornwallis, surrendered and the war was over.
