  • British march to capture Samuel Adams and John Hancock and capture stockpiled weapons in Concord, New Hampshire. The Colonists are warned by Paul Revere and William Dawes. 2,000 minutemen attack british soilders and force them to retreat
  • Saratoga
  • Faught just outside Boston, Massachusetts on Breeds Hill. Col. Prescott orders"Don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes". 40% casualties for the British is a confidence boost for the Continential Army.
  • Valley Forge
  • Washington's suprize attack across the Delaware River to defeat the Hessians at Trenton New Jersey

  • We surrender
  • British try pronged attack in battle in Saratoga, New York. They are low on supplies. Benedict Arnold gives continential army a major victory. French are convinced and agree to start helping.
  • Long, difficult winter for Washington and his troops camped out at Valley Forge Pennsylvaynia after British take Phillidalphia. Many of Washington's troops died from starvation and cold.
  • Last major ground battle of the war in Yorktown Virginia. A victory for continential troops. Cornwallis surrendered and it leads to the Treat of Paris officially ending the war.
