Pope Gregory and Emperor Henry

Emperor Henry IV choose a new bishop that Pope Gregory despised. The bishop questioned his rule. Henry tried to have Gregory removed as pope.
To stay as Emperor Henry went to apologized to the pope. Instead of accepting his apology he refused to talk to Henry. So, Henry wait in the snow for three days for Gregory to accept his apology. Finally Gregory ended the argument between them.
After the death of Henry and Gregory, the debate about the choosing of a bishop still went on. But finally, in 1122 a settlement was made between a emperor and a pope. The bishops would be chosen by only church officials.
