  • French colonists found Quebec and settled in, what they called, the 'New France' (Quebec).
  • 1960s
  •  The Constitutional Act, or Canada Bill, of 1791 was followed immediately by the division of Quebec.
  • 1982
  • Quebec became one of the founding members of the Dominion of Canada onJuly 1, 1867 when it joined Confederation.
  • 1995
  •  The election of a new Liberal Party was led by Premier Jean Lesage. It marks the beginning of the Quiet Revolution.
  • Queen Elizabeth II and Prime Minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau signed Canada's Proclamation of the Constitution Act, April 17, 1982. 
  • The Quebec Independence Referendum was the 2nd to ask voters in Quebec whether it should become an independent country offering an agreement to Canada.
