Odysseus and his group of men ( 12 ) after their battle with troy.
They stumbled upon a cave on their travel filled with food, so they decided to stay, and eat
After they have feasted upon the food left inside the cave, the owner (Polyphemus the cyclops) comes, he locks the cave with a large boulder, and begins eating them 1 by 1
As the cyclops ate Odysseus's men, they forged a plan to escape the cave of Polyphemus. They decide to sharpen a large stick, to blind the great monster, as he comes home.
So Odysseus invites Polyphemus to enjoy some wine that they have. As expected, the cyclops took some of the wine, and feel asleep in a drunken state. That was the men's que throw the stake into his eye allowing them to escape.
Odysseus and his men ( what was left of them ) successfully escaped the cave, and left behind a wounded giant in his cave.
