Cassidy was judged by her school classmates for her choice of clothing and appearance.
Meet Cassidy. 13 years old.
Taking a deep breath, she walked into class.
Who is THAT?
What is that on top of her head? Hair?
What is she WEARING?
It only got worse in the cafeteria.
It was her first day in her new school in Malibu. She was really nervous. Would they like her? Would they judge her for her weird hair and clothes? It wasn't usual for a GIRL to have short hair or prefer basketball shorts over skirts and dresses.
A group of girls approached her.
Why do you dress like a BOY?
Are you gay or something?
Do you even have any friends?
She felt like crying. Not even hour, and they were already whispering about her and making fun of her. She could practically feel their judgment from across the room.
She ran out, crying.
Cass could here the rumours everywhere she went. She didn't know where to sit, who would accept her, what to do. Her stomach churned with anxiety. She could feel something bad was going to happen.
Reaching the library, she found a paper strewn on the floor.
How strange...and beautiful.
Cass was shocked. The girls hated her THAT much? Was her hair that ugly? Was she....not enough? What was wrong with her?
Running past the lockers, Cass was sobbing her heart out. She had had enough of this school, with these mean girls and these snobby guys. When would it end?
It was a quote, Cass realised. It said, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." That was it.
