In 1770, in Versailles the wedding of Prince Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette took place.
In 1763, King Louis XV lost after seven years of war against Britain, and France was left bankrupt.
The population of France was growing, and the hunger rates were rapidly rising.
King Louis XV dies of smallpox, leaving his grandson to become king. Maximilien Robespierre read to the new King at his coronation without knowing that they would meet in the future.
In Paris, the upper class met to discuss new ideas about the society divisions between the wealthy and the poor. They were using reason and science to challenge old ideas.
Louis XVI wanted revenge against the British, therefore, as to support the Americans in their war against Britain, he sent his soldiers to fight.
