Flashback to Boobie's uncle, L.V., during his childhood in a segregated area of Texas. There was a wall in the middle of the streets to keep whites away from N-town. African-Americans were not welcome in games, restaurants, or anywhere outside their boundaries.
L.V. was a great basketball player playing in the poor basketball courts in his school. Although he wanted to play football but was unable to because all football schools were white schools.
Now during Boobie's childhood, he had been moved out of his father's house to his grandma, likely due to abuse.
When Boobie was 5, he was moved back to his father's house, James Senior. He had been working 2 jobs and Boobie was spending a lot of time home alone.
Boobie's father also had gotten together with a new girlfriend, who allegedly beat him with an extension cord on different occasions. Boobie was then placed in a foster home.
L.V. would visit Boobie sometimes, but he didn't have the heart to leave his family in a foster home alone. So, he took James Jr. under his wing.
