  • When Jane was 10yrs old she went to live with Catherine Parr (and Elizabeth)
  • When Jane was 16 she was married to Lord Dudley’s son, Lord Guildford Dudley.
  • So with Edward about to die, and the Catholic Mary next in line; Lord Dudley, Duke of Northumberland, came up with a plan that would keep England Protestant and the POWER still in his hands
  • Edward declared that both his sisters mothers were not married, in law, to his father, so could not succeed him to the throne. That meant that Lady Jane Grey was next in line
  • Mary was very popular with the people of England, and she soon raised an army against Lord Dudley. Lord John Dudley, was quickly executed and Jane, her husband and father were sent to the Tower of London
  • However things soon turned bad for Mary, and when she married Philip of Spain, their was a rebellion against her. She thought Jane was involved so Mary had Jane, her father and husband all executed. She was only 17 years old
