Storyboard Text

  • Transcription
  • The DNA is unzipped and split into two seperate pieces.
  • DNA
  • mRNA
  • After the DNA is unzipped a new copy of a DNA has been created. This half is called mRNA.
  • An mRNA is able to leave the nucleus after it has been created, but the DNA cannot.
  • Translation
  • After the mRNA strand is created it leaves the nucleus and travels over to the ribosome. The ribosome then reads the mRNA strand and attaches the amino acids together in the correct order to create a protein strand.
  • Once the ribosome reaches the end of the mRNA it splits off from the protein.
  • Before
  • After
  • If the amino acids are attached together incorrectly than the protein will be made incorrectly.
  • If the protein is made incorrectly it may not function the way it is supposed to.
