  • Neil Armstrong stepped out from the Eagle, to be the first Man to walk on the Moon . Buzz Aldrin followed and joined him shortly after.
  • On 16th July, 1969 the USA got ready to launch the Saturn V rocket on its journey to the Moon, from Cape Kennedy, Florida.
  • ..... Armstrong and Aldrin prepared to land by climbing into the lunar module, The Eagle, and descending down onto the Moon's surface.
  • At 09:32 the Saturn V rocket launched from the tower. On board were Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins and Edwin 'Buzz' Aldrin.
  • WE DID IT!
  • Whilst Collins remained in the Command Module and orbited the Moon.....
  • Let's take some photographs and collect space rocks and soil to study back on Earth.
  • That's one small step for man and one giant leap for mankind.
  • It then took the Apollo Crew 3 days to finally reach the Moon.
  • After only 12 minutes, the astronauts were orbiting the Earth.
  • After 21 hours on the Moon, Armstrong and Aldrin finally returned to the Command Module to reunite with a relieved Michael Collins and to make the journey back to Earth.
  • We've left The Eagle orbiting the Moon now!
  • And you too, Michael!We tried to put the American flag in the ground. Not sure if it will stay standing though!

  • The Moon landing was watched by nearly 600 million people around the world.
  • The Apollo 11 Crew returned to Earth and landed in the Pacific Ocean on 24th July , 1969. They were placed in quarantine for 21 days .
  • Across the USA, Moon parties were held to celebrate this monumental achievement.
  • Hip, Hip, Hurray! for the Astronauts!
