Because I could not stop for Death

I designed this image based on my literal interpretation of the poem 'Because I Could Not Stop for Death'. The horse is represented literally but I personified Death as a grim reaper type of person who is not easily identifiable. The narrator, who was approached by Death was not represented as human when she was picked up by the horse carriage but was represented as a spirit now because I feel that she was basically dead at the time that Death approached her. Also I think she may start to picture herself as dead when he remembers every time she starts to remember these events. When the author describes her as wearing a 'Gossamer Gown', I picture her wearing distressed ghost-like clothes which is why I chose the image I did. The poem also had a very dark, mysterious mood which is why I made the setting a dark night in the woods similar to stereotypical horror movies.
I was inspired by multiple lines: Because I could not stop for Death – He kindly stopped for me – The Carriage held but just Ourselves – And Immortality. Since then – ‘tis Centuries – and yet Feels shorter than the Day I first surmised the Horses’ Heads Were toward Eternity – Or rather – He passed us – The Dews drew quivering and chill – For only Gossamer, my Gown – My Tippet – only Tulle –
