Hi I'm Harold the DNA strand!
Sadly Ebeneezer died a little while ago so after I'm done saying goodbye to him I will have to go make protein so that another cell can be made to replace him.
Okay let's get to work! First I have to go through a process called transcription! In this process I am unzipped and copied. This new copy is called mRNA. That is my daughter Lucille.
Hi! I am Lucille, the mRNA and the daughter of Harold! I am a copy of Harold.
Now, in the translation phase, a ribbosomes can use me as an instruction manual and attach amino acids to create a protein!
Wow that was a long day at work! I am so glad everything worked out and all of my daughter Lucille, the mRNA, was read correctly by the ribbosomes! If it had not been read right and a mutation had been created, that could have been very bad because that mutation could have made it so the protein could not do its job.
