Storyboard Text

  • Strong Army and Navy
  • Well-Supplied
  • Strong government
  • The British army greatly outnumbered the Continental Army, with 80,000 troops fighting for them. Britain’s army was well prepared since its troops were well-trained. Since the army was around for hundreds of years, they fought in large battles and were well organized.
  • Foreign Land
  • Why is the ground so wet here? We need to find drier land to fight on.
  • The British had plenty of resources. Compared to the Washington’s miserable army, British soldiers rarely lacked food, weapons, uniforms, or gunpowder.
  • Far from home
  • I don't know, we've already waited 6 months.
  • Britain was a very wealthy nation, which meant that the army could get plenty of supplies and food. They had better equipment.
  • Unmotivated
  • Since Britain was fighting on American soil, they had a disadvantage. The British did not know the land that they were fighting on.
  • The British were so far away from their home land, which made it harder to get supplies, troops, and news on time.
  • When are the extra supplies getting here?
  • Troops were indifferent to the cause of the war, giving them no motivation to fight unlike the colonist who had  a reason to fight.
  • Wait, Why are we even fighting?
