Storyboard Text

  • But sir... I worked every single day this month, for at least 9 hours too. You can't pay me a little more?
  • 1898
  • During this time, women got paid virtually nothing compared to a man. Women would get paid a cent a week, sometimes totaling 6 cents a month.
  • Here you go, your pay for this month 4 cents. Now hurry up and get home because I won't listen to your husband again.
  • NO I can't now go home before I don't pay you at all!
  • Women during this time were expected to only take care of the kids and the house. They weren't expected or allowed to really do anything else.
  • I'm home from work...
  • Its about time you came home! You have no buisness working, and not taking care of our kids.
  • Men during this time basically had control over everything in the household. They had control over everything the wife and children did.
  • If I want to work then I will. I am more than capable of going to work, while the kids take car of themselves.
  • NO! You will stay home with the kids from now on! You will only leave the house if you are going to the market to trade things and such! And thats it!
  • During this time school for kids was becoming more popular. The schools were better and the teachers that tought there were actually educated!
  • Fine... kids time for classes!
  • When you get home, I want the entire house clean top to bottom. Think of this as your punishment for working.
  • Coming Mom!
  • Two Years Later
  • We want rights! We want to be paid the same as the rest! Stop putting children to work!
  • When women would start protesting, some of them were put into women correctional facilities. While there the prisoners were treated unfairly and basically abused.
  • NO! Go back home before we lock you all up!!
  • 1919
  • I'm going to work and you can't stop me. The kids all have school during the day, but are home at night. I will be home during the times that they are home.
  • Ok. I won't stop you cause I know I llegaly can't, but know if something were to happen to our kids while you were gone, it would be your fault!
  • In 1919 women had gotten the right to vote. During this time women were also slowly integrated themselves into the work force. Grated they still weren't paid the same as the man, but they defiantly weren't paid 1 cent a week.
