  • 1. I like to read books that are suspenseful or horror. I don’t always read books, but I read them if I find them interesting. In LOTF the book is suspenseful because we don’t know if the boys are going to make it out of the jungle alive. It also has horror in it because we find out that there is a “beast” that is there. In the book, the boys chant “Kill the beast! Cut his throat! Do him in!” When Simon comes running toward them, the boys think he is the beast because they think that the beast is coming to kill the, and no one can clearly see Simon, so they kill him.
  • 2. My strengths are that I could read and finish long books. This helped because LOTF was a really long book. My weakness is that sometimes I loose focus while I’m reading. Sometimes while reading I go off task and go on my phone. In LOTF this was not the case because I found the book really interesting. The book consisted of suspense because we didn’t know if they were going to make it out alive and the book had horror because we didn’t know what the beast would do.
  • 3. The theme of the book LOTF is that anyone can turn into savages. In the book, the boys start to kill pigs, and each other, start to break rules because there was no one to tell them that what they are doing is wrong. In the book it states “ Roger ran round the heap, prodding with his spear whenever pigflesh appeared. Jack was on top of the sow, stabbing downward with his knife.” This made a impression on my life because this means that anyone can turn into savages because the boys came from a civilized place and they turned into savages in a short period of time. Proving that everyone has that Beast inside them.
