  • The Younger family is patiently waiting for insurance money from their deceased father to arrive. At least most of them are patiently waiting.
  • I hopes to God you ain't going to get up here first thing this morning and start talking to me 'bout no money- cause I 'bout don't want to hear it" (Hansberry 26).
  • After the money arrives and Walter realizes Mama isn't giving him any of the money he becomes infuriated and walks out. He needed the money to follow his dreams and now they were being crushed
  • "Because money is life Mama...you don't understand Mama, you just don't understand" (74).
  • "Son how come you talk so much 'bout money anyway?" (74)
  • After much consideration Mama uses the insurance money to buy a house for her and her family. She knows her son will be upset.
