  • The old man is playing chess with his son, and the mother is watching while knitting. They were waiting for the solider to arrive.
  • Climax
  • The guest arrives, tells stories when he starts talking about a monkeys paw. A talisman the old man wanted so he could have three wishes like the solider did, but the soldier is trying to warn the old man.
  • Falling Action
  • The old man ends up taking the paw and wishes for 2 pounds, his son is making fun of him while Mr. White wishes. But the joke stop because the old man fell to the floor.
  • Resoultion
  • Mr. & Mrs. White were both informed by a well dressed man that came to inform them that their son died in an accident with machinery but learned they got 2 hundred pounds for their son's service.
  • Mrs. White was sad until she remembered the monkeys paw had 2 more wishes, and told Mr. White to get the monkey's paw and wish their son back to life.
  • Mrs. White ran to the door because she heard a knock after the old man wished his son alive, but then Mr. White wished his son back to death, because he didn't want his son to come back to life as a monster.
