Storyboard Text

  • The British had landed at L'Anse-au-Foulon, it was about 3 km upstream from Quebec City. Once Montcalm found out that the British had landed he took action by attacking before the British could establish themselves.
  • Soon after the attack General Wolfe had died by the firing. Several high ranked British officers were killed as well. Wolfe's last few words were...... 
  • Now, god be praised, I will die in peace. 
  • While Montcalm's army was escaping, Montcalm was wounded during the retreat and had died the next morning.
  • The French commander signed the Articles of Capitulation and turned the city over to the British. The British had won the war.
  • After the war the British had to leave the St Lawrence River before the ice closed the mouth of the river. Many British had suffered from scurvy.
  • In conclusion, after the war the British and French fought two more times. The first time the French won (Battle of Sainte-Foy) and the second time the British won (Battle of Quiberon Bay). But in the end on September 8 1960 , Montreal surrendered to the British and New France was officially ceded to Britain.
