Storyboard Text

  • The narrator is standing on trial and receives a death sentence. The crimes for which he is being condemned for are not mentioned but he stands upon tree pale-faced judges until he passes out.
  • DEATH!
  • The narrator feels around the room, counts his paces, and makes observations about his surroundings.
  • One...Two...Ten
  • The narrator is finally able to see the room in which he is trapped in. He notices the pendulum and the pit and knows that he's been destined to die.
  • Do my eyes deceive me? For all I see is "a crescent of glittering steel,... and the under edge evidently as keen as that of a razor".
  • The narrator sees his death approach as the pendulum gets closer to his body.
  • My death surely awaits me. Oh, how I wish to be saved from this upcoming horror.
  • The narrator spreads meat grease all over his bonds and watches as mouses chew through his straps. He waits for the right time to escape.
  •  I'm free from the wrath of the pendulum.
  • Come on mouses, chew! Chew!
  • As the walls began to move towards him the narrator thought he had no chance of living until the French army's General rescued him.
  • I've been saved! I've been saved! Oh, how I thought I was going to perish between these walls.
  • We have taken over Toledo and we have come to save you.
