My name is Holly, and I am here to help you learn more about Al Franken
Our story begins in New York City, where comedian Al Franken is making a name for himself with his pointed comedy on Saturday Night Live.
After leaving SNL and writing a few books, in 2007 Al Franken announced he would run for U.S. senate
And Al went on to win that election by only a few hundred votes. Successfully moving from comedy, to political talk radio to politics.
Al continued to gain notoriety within the democratic party, but he rose to national prominence in early 2017 with his harsh questioning of the nominee for secretary of education, Betsy DeVos
But just as he seemed to be positioning himself for a possible run at a higher office, he was taken down by the #metoo movement. The sexual harassment allegations forced him to resign, effectively ending his political career.
