For a shelter we use temporary tents or caves. We have never lived anywhere permanent because we have to keep moving so we don't run out of food.
Since we don't have to keep moving to find food because we know how to farm, we built permanent homes to stay in. We build them in communities. The shelters/ homes are made out of clay and bricks. We will often put sticks in the walls and roofs to make them more sturdy.
In our houses we had different rooms. Some to sleep in and others to store food in. We also can cook in our houses. We dig holes called pits, then we put hot stones in and add water. Then we can boil our food.
In our houses we are safe from animals and bad weather. Having permanent homes made our lives more comfortable.
The development of permanent shelters were important because they were good shelters and had places to store food. It gave people a place to live and they didn't have to keep moving.
