Their first voyage sailed well with the perfect weather as the General Grant sailed south.
In their first week of voyage they General Grant ran into thick fog but not even the extra look-out could see.
The wind blew harder and the fog cleared. The evening of 13 May 1886 land appeared but they thought not.
With the ship changing course fast they didn't notice until the last second that they were headed straight into grey, cliffy rocks.
Drifting closer people prayed for a miracle but the tied pushed and pushed.
An opening in the cliff face was presented and the mast got caught and broke like a thin twig and the ship
