We started pretty simple. Our college ministry was taking a trip to the local amusement park. Later, we learned from friends that we had the same reason for going. Apparently, we had both scoped out Facebook the day before to see if each other had RSVP’d.
Sam Weaver is going. Josh McDaniel is going. 11 others are going.
Emerge End of Summer Hershey Park Trip!
Once we were introduced, we couldn’t stop talking. At the time, Josh was a high school ministry intern, and I, a 7th grade youth group leader. We had a lot in common but still balanced each other out with our differences.
On our first date, he took me hiking to a hidden waterfall along the Potomac River. Since then, we’ve been on endless adventures. It probably sounds cheesy, but we’re never bored. A bus to NYC, a plane to Texas, or a mini-van rental to the beach – these are the trips we’ve become best friends on.
All relationships look better from the outside, though. Josh experienced deaths of loved ones close to him. My family moved across the country from me. Sometimes things are tough and stress gets the best of us, but everything happens for a purpose.
Two years later and we do dishes, meal prep, and go to the gym and church together. Routine and comfort are nice, but it’s also great having someone who still keeps you on your toes.
I’m sure now you’re thinking what’s so significant about this couple’s story? Well.. he doesn’t know I accidentally just found "the ring" in his things. Our story is about to get a lot more interesting in this next chapter coming very, very soon.
